G-Force: Princess, Tiny, Keyop, Mark, Jason and watching over them from Centre Neptune their computerised co-ordinator robot! Watching, warning against surprise attacks by alien galaxies beyond space! Fearless young orphans, protecting earth's entire galaxy. Always five acting as one ...Dedicated. Inseparable. Invincible!
Although Battle Of The Planets came to Britain in 1978, it started out life in 1972 as a Japanese anime known as Gatchaman. Bowlderised by American distributors, Battle Of The Planets mixed snippets of the original with new footage to tell the story of five transmuting orphans and their guardian robot.
BOTP was an instant hit with TV audiences around the globe. The action followed Earth’s main defence force, the G-Force team, as they pitted their powers against alien invaders from the planet Spectra. The interplay of personalities was every bit as exciting as the plot, with mysteries surrounding the characters. What was the fate of Mark’s father? Did Princess have a crush on Mark? And what did really Zoltar look like under that mask? These were the questions that held every fan enthralled, and it has been the enduring keenness of BOTP enthusiasts that has brought the series back to our screens.
