Crichton finally returns to Earth, but due to the time distortion effects of the wormhole, finds himself trapped in his own past in 1985. Unfortunately, he discovers that he has somehow disastrously changed the course of time, and his father Jack is now slated to fly the doomed Challenger mission. Lying low in Crichton's hometown, the crew use the timely Halloween celebrations to remain anonymous, while Crichton tries to revert the timeline.
