SCI-FI ACTRESS SPEAKS OUT FOR ADV FILM

During a break from her role as Peacekeeper Aeryn Sun on Sci-Fi Channel's hit series "Farscape", actress Claudia Black lent her voice to ADV Films' newest anime series, Steel Angel Kurumi, about a shy young boy and his adventures with a trio of sexy android women. Wizard caught up with Black after her recording session.

What did you know about anime before working on Steel Angel Kurumi?

"I was aware of the medium, but I had never actually seen much of it before. I've always thought of it as an exciting field, and I've always loved the idea of doing voiceovers and getting into more animation."

What did you think about Steel Angel Kurumi?

"I thought it was fantastic. I think the women look absolutely incredible. I love the dichotomy between what looks innocent, but is actually strong, hard and fierce. It's nice to play a role where you're never quite sure what their intentions are."

What was your voiceover experience like?

"It requires different skills to do voiceovers. It's really tiring, in some ways, your mouth just gives up. And the focus is entirely on you when you're in the booth. When I'm on the set of "Farscape", I love the buzz of working with other people. But it's nice to know there's a medium that exists for actors who no longer want to be in front of the camera."

Would you ever do something like this again?

"Absolutely! I'd love to do more of it."
