Me Vs. My Character
Megan Ward Vs. Kate Howard
What's your personal motto?
MW: It's a really cheesy, cliche quote that I put in my high school yearbook - "Life is not a destination, it's the quality of the journey." It's so corny, but I still hold [that it's] true.
KH: "Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer." It's a very competitive world she lives in.
What's the craziest thing you've ever done?
MW: I'm sorry to say, I'm boring. Living in a foreign country at 16 all by myself or backpacking through Europe without hotel reservations isn't crazy enough. Kate is much more intersting than I am.
KH: Overdosing on sexual enhancers.
What's you most cherished possession?
MW: My mom gave me the bracelet my dad gave her on their wedding day and my grandmother's Italian lace. All the little Italian ladies would sit and crochet lace. My mom kept it perfectly preserved. Because those items were special to them and now they're mine, I can hand them down to my daughter and they become a legacy. They can't be replaced because they have sentimental meaning.
KH: Her first issue of Couture with her name published editor-in-chief.
If you could live the day of your dreams, what woud happen?
MW: I'd be on vacation with my family, with nothing to do but play, sleep and eat anything I want.
KH: Breakfast with [NYC] Mayor Bloomberg, lunch with [photographer] Annie Leibowitz, dinner with [designer] Philippe Starck and dessert with Sonny Corinthos.
When people meet you, what's their first impression?
MW: I have no idea what people think of me. Remember, I'm way too self-critical, so I don't want to know what they think.
KH: "Nice outfit."
My definition of romance would have to include...
MW: ...breakfast in bed.
KH: ...for him to leave when he's done.
What makes you laugh?
MW: My kids are, really, the source of humour in my household.
KH: Pleather pants.
Do you have a favourite food?
MW: Ice cream. Any kind. If I'm not careful, I'll have the hips to prove it.
KH: Red wine. That's what editors do - they drink red wine.
My life would be much less complicated if...
MW: ...there were two of me.
KH: ...the past would stay put.
