Closet Confessions

Megan Ward

What colour can't you wear?

"Pale green. Pastels tend to wash me out. You need strong skin tone to wear pastels."

What was your worst fashion faux pas?

"Wham UK, neon Day-Glo, off-the-shoulder Flashdance sweatshirt. No ggod then, no good now. Of course, I was only 4 then [laughs]. It's hard to see your teenage fashion statements on the next generation. I have a 16-year-old niece and it's difficult for me to see her in her white sunglasses and her matching white plastic bauble earrings and go, 'I wore that. I actually wore that.'"

What item can't you live without?

"Other than my hats, my white studded leather belt. I've had it for four years and I probably wear it five times a week, from jeans to shorts, sometimes over the skirt, you name it."

What's in your closet that you just can't throw away?

"I wouldn't throw it away, but my wedding dress is still hanging in my closet. It's been 12 years. You'd think by now I could have it boxed and stored, but no, it's still hanging at the end of the dresses like I'm going to wear it to the Emmys or something."

Now there's a fashion statement.

"You said it!"
